System design suggestions

System is for a 2002 Dodge Ram quad cab. Truck has upgraded speakers from factory.

I would like to start thinking about a system for my truck. There are two problems that I see in this particular application.

1. No real room for any kind of enclosure for subs

2. Stock radio has controls on the back of the steering wheel that must be retained(owner wish) with any aftermarket head unit.

you could still have the factory stereo and have subs...im attempting this myself...all you need is to take some RCA wire...strip it and solder that into the speakers - and +, i dunno if its neg from one,pos from another...

or you can get a line converter...like $10,but i have seen them for $30 it tells you what to do-better...then all you do is plug the RCA in and then into your amp.

for the box...put it under the seat. a pair of 10" subs would work goo under there. If you want ports..have the port shooting to the front end of the truck.

that what a line out converter does...you still have to connect it to the speaker.

oh ic whatca talkin bout, the first part...ya someone on here told me to do that...but i didnt think that a good idea...my bad puttin it up.....

 Line converters sound like crap. I'm not the kind of person who wants a system full of base and nothing else. I would rather replace the factory speakers with higher quality and a high end amp and call it good. I think I would be a big challange getting any substantial base from a box under the seat. The space is very shallow, about 4" and illreagular. I have been out of the install business for quite some time and wanted to see if there were any tricks.

you could lift the seat up...make spacers and lift the seat up...
