I am attempting to reinstall my ford factory radio in My '97 escort.

It's an integrated radio/climate control oval.

I can't seem to connect the geared controller cable for the hot/cold knob. I cannot seem to get it to the point where I can make the connection with the lenght of cable available. When I get it to the point where I can almost connect it I cannot manouver or get my fingers in the available space

Any Help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks

by the sounds of it you removed the radio without first disconnecting that cable. not a big deal though. right above the gas pedal you will find the the heater chamber/box, if you follow the cable down you will see where it is connected to the side of this box, it is  a quick disconnect (press in the center of the connector and pull back, this will remove that end of the cable giving you all the slack you need to reconnect on the radio, push the radio back into place, then go back down below and push the connector back onto the heater box. all done, much easier if you keep in mind to disconnect the bottom end first.

if its not too late, make sure you remember the position of both the temp. knob and the position that the cable was in ( pointing towards the engine is hotter, and pointing towards the interior is cooler) just make sure these two match...knob is set at hot-cable is pointing towards the engine bay

hope this helps
