definitely a sealed box, I have never and probably will never see a perfect in a ported or bandpass.

I would use a sealed enclosure with 1cu/ft volume per sub. If you are interested in designing / building your own enclosure you can use the 12volts volume calculator https://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#rec to figure out the proper size and volume. Don’t forget to use at least 5/8 mdf board.

thanks for the info. I put them in a sealed box by the recommandations of the subs. Now how hard should they hit before they start destorting? the amp is turn 1/4 of the way up and the radio bass is on 0.

The best way to set the gain is to turn it down all the way. Try and turn off the mids and highs.  Turn up the head unit to about 3/4 all the way up. Then slowly turn up the gain on the sub amp till you start to hear distortion. When you hear distortion turn the gain down a little and it will then be set. Turn the mids and highs on and you will be good to go. But it is important to remember the gain control is not a volume control, it is used to match the output on the headunit with the input on the amp.
