Kenwood KAC-7201 to Alpine Type E 12s

I just picked up 2 Alpine Type E 12s to replace my old Lanzars.  I am thinking of buying a Kenwood KAC 7201 amp to power them.  What are your thoughts on this?  The 12s are in a sealed box, I think 1.5 cubic ft per chamber, maybe 1.75. 

I have the same amp for my single sub setup. If you can put a 2 ohm stereo load on it you shoud be able to get around 230 watts per sub (around that amount area).

The Type E series are 4ohm SVC's. 200RMS 600Peak If you wire them in parallel you will end up with a 2ohm total load. Since the KAC-7201 is not 2ohm Mono stable, your only choices with that amp are: 1) Wire both speakers in parallel to 1 channel (not a bridge, just use 1 channel) for apx 200 watts total (100 per sub). The amp is rated 230 x 2 @ 2ohms, but that is based on a 14.4 volt electrical system, not a 12 volt system. 2) Wire each sub independantly on it's own channel for apx 125 watts per sub. You would be better off finding a 2ohm stable Class D Mono amp rated at least 400 x 1 @ 2ohms. If you're on a budget, the JBL BP600.1 would work nicely. On a 12 volt system you would get apx 550 watts total, or 275 watts per sub. You would be a lot happier. Just a thought...Squirrel

wvsquirrel is right, you'd only get 100 watts per sub with a 2 ohm load. My MIstake
