i have a 2003 silverado with the bose speaker system.  i have replaced my speakers with infinitys.  i would also like to add an amp to those speakers, in addition to the bose amp.   will it hurt any thing, to tap into the speaker wire coming out the bose amp, with a high/low convert.  then,  using rca's from there to connect to my four channel amp.  inturn, reconnecting to the speaker wires.

i know in another forum, i was told that connecting the 4 ohm infinity speakers to the 1 ohm bose system, would not hurt anything.  i was wondering if throwing my 4-channel mtx amp into the equation would cause any problems.

also,  would it be possible to tap into the speaker wires using a high/low convert like above, to add another amp and sub.

It would be best to replace the head unit with an aftermarket cd player with 3 sets of preouts, i recently switched out my Bose head unit and it was the easiest installation i have ever done.

if you added another amp to that it f**k sh*t up

that is like adding two plugs on one appliance

it will either sound like sh*t cuz to much power or blow them up cuz some f**ked up wiring

don't do it

Adding a 4 ohm speaker to what was meant to be 1 ohm will not damage anything but you will lose alot of power. Unfortunately you have bose. If you want to add anything correctly, including the sub you mentioned in another post, you will need to replace everything from the deck to the speakers. As far as adding a LOC(line out converter) and sub, it could prove to be difficult because all of the outputs from the bose amp are crossed over and will not provide you with a clean low end signal to power the sub's amplifier. If your vehicle has a factory sub then you should tag your inputs for the loc there that way there would be some bass that hasn't been crossed over.
