i hardwired my radar detector to my fuse box using a fuse blade tap.  i first tried the radio fuse, but the detector wouldn't shut off when the car was turned off. i then tried the airbag fuse and it worked. the problem is that the tap widened the space for the radio fuse to the point that the fuse is loose and the only way to make the connection is to leave the tap in. is there any way to tighten the connections for the loose fuse?

put another fuse tap in where you pulled it out and just don't use it.
