I have a 1999 chevy tahoe. I recently installed a kenwood kdc-x599 head unit in it. when I pulled out the factory radio I noticed it had a small cooling fan attatched to the back of it. I noticed a lot of heat coming from the new deck when I am playing it and it has started to act up. Is the heat generated by the heat/AC instrument panel interfearing with my c.d. player, should I install a mini fan back there. Any suggestions would be nice. thanks

If you feel it’s getting too hot behind the dash then I would wire a fan in to cool things off. I would suggest you hook the fan up using a SPDT relay. Below is a diagram of how to wire it

• 87 - Constant
• 86 : GROUND
• 30 - Remote Wire Accessories (Your fan)
• 85 : Remote Input from HU
• 87a: NOT USED
