Soon I will de installing a 7" flip down in my 2003 GR. Caravan. It has the controles for the rear air, front information console and a hump running inbetween.  Were the rear air controles are is the perfect place to mount but they are in the way. I'm afraid if I mount it in front of the controles it will be to close to the mid seat. It could fit  between the front overhead console and the rear ac controles but The monitor is a very little bit to wide (very little) . Pushing up a bit on the monitor flattens the hump a little and looks good. I know Audiovox sells a console mount but $$$$ and only there consoles fit and I already have this screen.

Also How do you get the overhear monitor down?? I took out the only screw I could see and it still wouldnt budge. Thanks for any help!!!

I just installed a 8in flip down in my 02 Grand Caravan Sport. I removed the light right behind the rear ac controls and mounted it in/ over hole for the light console. The best part is you don't cut the headliner and can remove the system and reinstall the light with no damage. Just make sure your flip down flips away from the viewer(like most flip downs do) and not the opposite like the Blaupunkt flip down system.

I have a 2003 Grand Caravan.  I installed an 8" Flipdown between the front flipdown console (CD/Sunglass holder) and the rear air conditioner controls.  If you look between these two locations, you will see a plastic snap-in retainer holding the headliner up.  If you remove that plastic retainer, you can then use that hole to support your flipdown monitor.  I removed the front flipdown console and the rear airconditioner controls during the installation.  This allowed me access to the underside of the headliner.  The plastic retainer actually snaps into a metal roof support, so this gives you a support to mount the screen.  My flipdown came with a metal plate that you mounted to the ceiling and then you mount the flipdown to that plate.  I drilled a hole in the center of that plate and bolted the plate to the above mentioned metal roof suport.  By doing this, I did not have to cut or drill the headliner.

I had the same issue as you when it came to the premolded hump in the headliner between the front console and the air conditioner controls.  My 8" flipdown had a slight gap on each side.  To solve this, I cut two pieces of styrofoam approximately the same thickness as the space between the headliner and headliner hump.  I inserted one on each side of the underside of the headliner where the hump was starting to turn up - since the headliner is not very stiff (I think it's cardboard), the styrofoam caused the hump to be widened slighlty.  When the bolt through the metal plate was tightened, the headliner hump snugged up to the plate and resulted in the contour of the headliner being wide enough to remove the gap betwen the edge of the flipdown and the headliner hump.

I hope this helped.  I am not a professional - this is my first video install.  Several of our friends have commented on the professional appearance of the install.

If you do not want to use the Audiovox console which will work only with there equipment you can make your own if it comes with a universal console. You can basically manufacture it. There is a trick to it but it is simple. I work on them all the time. I wish I could show you by a diagram but Audiovox shows it in there installation guide. I have just modified it to my style. Between the A/C controls and the foward overhead is a big piece of plastic that you can use to attach an overhead too. I install the factory chrysler overheads in all the time and have them down to 30 minutes to install and thats with the indash DVD and a remote gameplate on the rear panel drivers side. Pretty easy vehicle to do. Take your time, if it is too hard pay a pro to do it. Should not charge you that much and you will know it was done right.
