I have a new truck with a stock radio that I like.  I am putting new speakers in the dash and comp. speakers in the doors.  Also a 4x175 watt (rms) amp. Is there any down fall to a stock radio "i.e. freq. responce or sound quality, or is the amp the sorce of that kind of stuff.  Thx Will

No you're headed in the right direction in terms of improving sound quality.  As long as you use a good line output converter and install everything correctly, you will notice a huge improvement in the overall sound quality.  Obviously there will eventually be a limit to how good it will sound without you replacing the factory source unit, but it's fine to leave it in place for the time being.

Depending on your head unit sound quality can be severly limited. If you have a nice new unit you should be o.k. Not all stock radios are created equal.
