i was driving my car down the road today and it just died all of a sudden.  i coasted it into a parking lot and tried to start it again.  it had nothin.  It seemed like the battery had been ripped out, but everything was fine mechanically.  something went wrong with my alarm but i dont konw what it is, maybe my starter disable relay.  all the wires seemed fine, but weird stuff was happening.  i had no power in my car except my dome light and my hazard flashers.  every so often i could turn my headlights on, but then when i tried to start my car, they would shut off for a while again.  my cd player and trunk motor are dead.  what is wrong??????!!!!!!

Sounds like the alternator died out to me. You only use the battery to start the car, then once it's running the alternator takes over. If, while you're driving, the alternator dies, then the battery takes over for a bit, and then that will soon die (as it's not supposed to be able to run the car....the alternator is).

-it can be the battery also, the computer runs off the battery. dont know that for sure for other cars, am refering to toyota. this happen to me, i thought that my alternator is dead, but after jumping my batt exactly 4 times it doesnt stay on while driving.
-i notice when the rmp raises to a point without the battery, it dies.
-goose, youre right about that battery use to start the car, but it can only stay while on idle.

look for a bad ground connection, it can produce all kinds of weird problems, if most everything is screwy check the ground stap near the battery, un do it, clean rust/corrosion off the lug and where is connects to the body/frame of the car, make sure you do it up good and tight.
