Ground wiring?

anybody know where to ground the wire effectively?

If you were more specific about what you were talking about I could tell you allot more. But generally you want to ground to a clean metal surface on the chassis.

oh sorry about that. =) there's this black wire from the fuse box of the car stereo right? i think it's not properly grounded. which part of chassis do you mean? and how would i know it's properly grounded?

you want a good metal surface that is connected to the chassis and not to plastic or something. You can test by first finding a good metal surface, then use a DMM connec the positive to a known positive point, and touch the negative to your new found metal surface.

Yeah i agree with what ^ said. If you do everything right and ur amp has the protection built in, it won't let u turn it on, and will refer u to ur users manul. I had to do this, my ground wasn't good enough. You might have a ground, just make sure that it is good.

yah, i must agree that good grounding is required. just don't know how to do it..

whenever i use the DMM i'll get a reading of 12 volts? that only occurs when the engine is running isn't it?

Your only gonna get 12 volts (or close by) or -12 V. it depends if the source is straight to the battery (always 12V) on with the ignition (only 12V when car is "on") or other sources, the ground however is always ground it is not disconneced unless the battery is removed.
