Im showing a 1995 celica hatch and in the last few shows the judges havent been giving me very many stereo points... I currently have 3 Jl audio w6's in a custom trunk powered by a 1000 watt concept amp.... I want to tear it all out and redo the trunk to fiberglass, but if I am spending that much money I want to upgrade the system... my goal is to hit over 160 db's and I can fit up to 4-10's, 3-12's, or 2-15's in my trunk... I am building the trunk myself and I wanted to make it sealed cause it looks alot cleaner... I was wondering if this is possible without haveing to spend an insane amount of money such as buying 3-amlumapro's or 3-w7... any advice helps

if you trust ebay...you'll get the W7 13.5 in sub lil cheaper.

its all in the encloser...i know out there in the audio world, someone made a computer program that you can build a box and stuff. I would concider having a computer made box built.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

there are alot of subs around these days that would help you achieve your goal, but alot of knowhow goes into building a 160 db system...
regardless of anything, you are going to need power...lots of it...big alternator, big battery(ies), big amps...and a big ported enclosure would help you out in most scenarios...
give me a rough budget for subs and amps and I will attempt to help you out with your project...
personally I hit 158db with a single Stroker 18, but there is soooo much between 158 and 160...it is really amazing...

well I have an audio control matrix line driver, A yellow top under the hood, and a 200 farad bat cap, I am just seeing what subs and amp I would need for a 160 db system... what do you have running your stroker 18? .... and is it imparative that I make a ported box to reach my goal or is it possible to do in a sealed one?

ported is alot easier to hit big numbers...
I had a mmats d200hc on my Stroker...
like I said, give me a rough budget to work with and I will see what I can offer up for you...

For subs and amp my budget is about $900... I had an offer to get 3-12 L7's and 3-500a2's for $900, but I heard that I prolly wouldn't get over 140 db's in a sealed box and even if I ported it it, it still wouldn't get over 150...any truth to that?... also with that budget what should I do?

well, honestly, 160db would be almost a miracle unless you bought used equipment, and even then only if you got a really good deal...
if you really want to hit 160 db, 900 is more like one or the other...subs or amp...and then expect to spend that again on the other...
and that is after you have already spent the money on upgrading your electrical system and bought all of the wires and distro blocks and other means necessary for your install...

yeah I have already bought everything else, just need to get sub and amp ideas cause I have another show coming up on the 23rd and I would like to get my box built... what subs are the most bang for the buck, and work good in either sealed or ported? (I suppose I could find a way to port)... and how many watts do I need to run them?.... are l7's the answer or are there better subs for the money?... just looking for some advice
