Hey guys

I'm going to go nuts with my invertor, i have a pioneer 6500DVD indash screen. Everytime i use an invertor with ps2/xbox/gamecube it causes the screen to get lines in it and it buzzes in the speakers. Now i have 3 different inverters they all do the same thing, i have a portwattz 300, portwattz 600 and a motomaster 400. It doesnt matter where i draw power from, ive went straight to the battery and ive tried through 12v cigarette lighter. If i hook any of the systems up to household power its fine, including if i use another car battery. But if i use my car battery it gives me the distortion whether the ignition is on or off. Any help guys would be greatful i would really like to be able to use this inverter it makes it easy for me to use my laptop on the road. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried relocating the inverter away from the screen, you know how sometimes when you run something near a household tv the TV gets distorted.  It could be either you inverter or you PS2 is too close to the screen.  Another thing to consider is what type of RCA cables are you using and how close the inverter is to those.  If the inverter is too close and the RCA are not of the highest quality then you could be getting feedback from poorly shielded cables.  I would try moving the video cable away from the inverter and try using higher quality video cables if they are running near the inverter.

Be sure to also check the ground on the inverter. Make sure that you scrape the paint away and get down to the bare metal. Also make sure that the video cable is well away from any 12 volt wires. Good luck!
