I'm gonna buy some new subs but I'm really torn between these two.  Someone told me I would need two type r's to be as loud as the aluminums.  These are two very good sq subs, but I'm torn between.  I can get two type r's for the price of one of the eclipse's, so thats what I prolly do...either the 2 alpines, or the one eclipse.....what do you guys think?

Is trunk space a factor for you at all?  And what kind of sound are you looking for?  Do you just want it to be as loud as possible?

i have 97' honda civic lx sedan...trunk space is at a premium but I think that I can fit 2 12" subs in there......I am not going for spl, I personally think it hurts the ears, and doesnt sound good.   I want to have a sub or subs that have good sq, but can put out a good amount of sound....

Hands down I would go with the Eclipse. 1 sub will put out as much bass as 2 or more type R's and the Eclipses have better SQ.

okay so if i go with the eclipse, what could i use to power it? i thought about a jbl 1200.1 for the 2 alpines, but that would be too much for that aluminum....i love the jbl amps, but i think the 600.1 wouldnt give it enough power.....

The JBL's are one hell of a deal. You won’t find anything that will put out that much clean power for a better price. As far as the amp goes if you’re going with 1 Eclipse get the 600.1 if you get 2 go for the 1200.1.

You cant go wrong with the eclipses they are a very well made sub that can take a lot of power!  Eclipse puts more Quality in there products than alpine.

believe!!

Type R alpines are weird, there sound is....how do i put it!!!.....not punchy, they tend to get more mid range sound as well as bass compared with most other subs that i have heard. I haven't heard an eclipse sub yet, most ppl here suggest them, so why not
Eksqueez me!!......bayking powdeh??
