Kicker says that the L7 15" needs 6.0 ft max of air space for spl or deep bass in a poted box, if the box has more space than needed will that have any different effect on the subs?? Also which is better the dual 2 ohm version or the dual 4 ohm version. I am planning on getting 2 and running a kx 1200.1 amp to each. Thanx for all the help.

You don't want to go any bigger than 6 cubic feet (plus port), as the sub isn't designed to work in a box larger than the specs.  If you make the box too big the sub won't have any back pressure to stablize it as it plays, decreasing its power handling and output.  You'll do fine if you stay within the specs.

As for the voice coils, there's no difference between the 2 or 4 ohm except wiring impedence.  The 2 ohm can be wired up as a 1 or 4 ohm total load, while the 4 ohm can be wired up as a 2 or 8 ohm total load.  If you're unclear about any of this, just refer to the Kicker install manual.

As for the amp setup, I'd get the 2 ohm versions.  Since you plan on getting 2 1200.1's (1200 rms @ 1ohm), you can wire each L7's DVC in parallel (1 ohm) so you get the most out of your amps.

I hooked up two 15 inch kicker l7 and I built a 5 cubic foot chamber for each sub.  You could hear it for blocks.  You will be fine running it in 4.5 to 5 cubic foot chamber for each.  Just stuff it with polyfill.
