We are working on a 1995 chevy pick up truck with a 6.5 litre diesel engine. The owner states that it is getting harder to start and the crank cycle is getting longer. When the starter engages, it seems as though the batteries are weak.  We checked the batteries which were ok, changed the glow plugs, fuel filter, and air cleaner.  This seemed to help a little. Is there any other electronic parts that may be causing this condition.

Be sure your grounds are good! 90% of this type of problem is caused by poor grounds, bad cables, corroded connections or all three. If the cables look at all questionable replace them as a matter of course, they are far cheaper than computers and such. Have you checked to make sure the lift pump and injector pump are operating sufficiently? Both of these are extremely important in the 6.5L. Good luck!!
