I was recently given an amp and stereo receiver from what was probably a 1987 Volvo. The amp seems to have been manufactured by Alpine as far as I can tell.

Can anyone tell me whether this little amp is worth tinkering with and if so, just where the heck to find wiring info for it? My daily driver could use with a small amp but it's not worth purchasing an aftermarket unit for. So, if I can hook this freebie Volvo amp up it would be kinda nice. Anyone have anything they can tell me?

If it is a factory volvo amplifier, then you should throw it away, beat it with a bat, or shoot it. Those would at least be fun, if you tried to hook it up chances are that (a) it wouldn't work and (b) give a big headache.

I agree, the 10 watts that it probably puts out wouldnt be worth the time nor the hassle. You would be better off purchasing a new aftermarket deck for your daily driver and just forget about the amp all together if you dont want to invest $

Yeah. I did get bored and figure out the wiring on it the other night on my own. Took an hour and a half and it does work. (Not surprising since it was still brand new.)

Anyway, it doesn't seem to put out much more power than the head unit already does. Eh, it was worth a shot. :) Thanks, folks.
