Standing waves

What are some ppl's opinions on standing waves. I was just wondering how noticable these we because i was looking at making myself a square sub box and just wondering weather or not i should reconsider?

I really don't want to get into this discussion, but for the most part sub enclosures are to small for this to have too much of an effect inside the box, there could be a problem between the box and the car. If you are really worried about standing waves in the box, then spray glue some padding inside the box on the walls. the Certified Security Specialist

Yeah that's what i thought. Had a feeling the box would be too small. If i was in SPL comps or something i would be a lot more worried. So your saying it's something you probably won't really notice and of course depends on your car as well.

If you are building a sq or spl vehicle then you might want to take it into account. But once the shop I worked for installed a powered tube into a vw jetta and had it facing toward the rear. When the trunk was closed and the radio was turned off( used a loc and acc for turn on lead) there was a really loud hum coming from the trunk, I would say it was around 130db and rattled the bumper. Lol. So basically i'm only wanting my system for everyday use but wanting good sq. I'll only be running a pair of tens in at most a 1cu./ft chamber per sub. Hmmm 130db of hum that would be pretty annoying!
