Hi all,
1. Just bought a '97 Corolla. I use an Autolock on the brake pedal but it can still start. Should I use it on the clutch pedal, even though it's thinner metal? Do thieves saw through these locked pedals anyway?
2. I'd like more antitheft protection. Should I use an alarm or something else? I'd prefer to avoid using an alarm. Not familiar with the kinds of ignition kill switches/cutoffs that are available but wonder if one of them would be right for me, and if my car's model and year present any kind of special considerations. It's a 1.6 liter and has no power locks or windows.
Thanks very much,
Jeff

If it's an auto then holding the break pedal should keep it out of gear and just as safe as an alarm.
I question the valid excuse that burglers will cut through the autoloc or brake pedal for that matter. I mean if it was a NSX, Diablo, or something else high dollar maybe. But for a 97 family car they could just move on to the next one. In some cases the brake pedal comes off easier then messing with the lock although I have not personally seen it and that MIGHT be an issue.
If you want anything on vehicle like that it would be remote start and power locks. Remote start because small cars a/c systems are so small it's nice to let it start to cool the interior 5-10 minutes ahead of time. Heating the same thing. The power locks can be installed really easily and make it nice. People probably laugh at you but usually their just jealous. Had I guy laugh at me once cause my little car had alarm w/power locks. I just remote started it and laughed back when I opened the door and it was cool inside.
