hey no one do what i did today!  i turned my Jeep in today to a body shop to get it fixed from an accident.  well i disconnected my system b/c i didnt feel comfortable leaving it in there being as there is a sign on the door of the shop saying "we are not responsible for valuables left in the vehicle".   so as i was tearing stuff apart.  i pulled the RCA's out of my sub amp and accidentally touched them to the positive post on my 2nd battery...well these rcas were still connected to the head unit and it fried it.  it turns on but no ouput from any of the 3 rca ouputs and no sound through the speakers.  it was the pioneer deh-6400 the one with the cool 3d display that costs 300 bucks(which is now down the drane for me).   it is only 3 months out of warranty and pioneer wont fix it.  even though they know im a professional installer and sound competitor.  many people value my opinion on audio equipment and i have recommended pioneer to many people and sold many head units for them.   well the head unit i buy next week will be ALPINE not pioneer!  but just to let everyone know...dont let rcas touch a spare battery or buy pioneer products because their customer service SUCKS!!!!!

That really suck, but as far as pioneer's customer service, it has been my experience that everyone's customer service sucks.

ok im no expert, and im not trying to sound like an a-hole or something but, why should pioneer give you a new HU when you broke it... AND its out of warranty? i know if i had something on warranty and it broke, i would be pissed too, but its on me not them. just a little of mine.

What were you doing with the cables that they even came close to your second battery in the first place? Were you trying to see if you could make sparks fly to begin with? I guess I just don't understand how this "accident" even occured. As for being mad at Pioneer, they didn't fry the unit, you did. I agree with iairj84 and think you should just accept the fact that you fu#ked up and now you have to pay for your mistake.

Sorry to hear what happened dude, you mentioned that you are a professional installer? Any installer would know to disconnect power first before you start tearing a system apart, I've been installing for 22 yrs and have yet to burn out a headunit, i always disconnect power first no matter what you're doing to the system.  I'm not trying to bag on you dude but a little common sense would save alot grief and money sometimes.

ok ok ok...you guys are right...pioneer should not pay for it...i shouldnt have dogged them for it...it was my F**kup.  but yeah i should know to disconnect power..i was in a hurry to get my Jeep in the body shop so i could get it back quicker...i had alot of work to do before a big SPL competition this saturday. i was just really pissed off that it happened.   and thats why i was dogging pioneer.  and no, Jt82, i didnt smell smoke or nothing...but the radio is fried.  all it does is turn on...so signal from the rca ouputs and no speaker wire outputs.
