picked up a used  van and having trouble figuring the wiring for the power window wiring type. when i checked the power window switch it checked out like a 5 wire alternating + 12 v dc. but everything i've found on this system says it should be a reverse polarity or maybe negative trigger. i have a manual on order but would like to get started on this asap. any help would be appreciated.

1998 ford conversion van: sorry error on my part. been looking at to many wiring diagrams lately. i'm installing remote power locks using cool start RS900 series V, remote start is working ok but the wiring for the remote locks slowing me down. wires checked out as follows. 1.) 1 -black w/white stripe has12   v dc always hot.   2.) 1-red has continuity at rest, and 12 v on lock.  3.) 1-brown has continuity at rest, and 12 v on unlock.  4 & 5.) 2-black wires have continuity to ground and open when switch in engaged (lock or unlock). this is on the front door passenger's side. is this a standard reverse polarity wiring system??? will be trying remote windows latter.  david thanks for the reply, sorry about the confusion.
