Hey hows it going? Ok i have a couple of questions that maybe you can help me with. Firstly, i just got my deck installed by my friends brother who is a mechanic, and the deck works fine now but ever since he installed my deck my interior light will not shut off (i have a 95 chevy cavalier). Do you think it could be some wires were moved or a switch was knocked on behind the dash when i was putting it back on? Secondly, before i had the deck installed i had nothing where the deck is supposed to be, some wires were hanging out but i had them covered, one of the wires accidentally touched the metal by where the deck is supposed to be and my guage lights went out, i know i blew a fuse, and i replaced it, but now my guage lights are extremely dull (like barely noticable). Do you think it could be the bulb that is dying or what? Thirdly, after the deck was installed when i got home, i shut off the car and then tried to start it again and it wouldnt start, so i had to boost it. I dont know how it could be my battery because i could have all my other electrical stuff running fine from the battery (when i tried starting the engine it made a clicking noise and that was it). Someone said it could be the alternator but i dont know how that could be right because it wouldnt start even if i boosted it then. Now the car starts up all the time but it sounds like it has some trouble doing so (and by the way i have new spark plugs). What do you think could be the problem? And then the last thing, my trunk all of a sudden does not want to open with my key (i just turn the key and nothing happens). The trunk was perfectly fine before so what do you think could be the problem? Should i just take my car in to get checked out?

Thank you very much.....haha i know it is a lot of questions but could you please try to answer at least one of them?

Thanks

Andrew

As far as the lights and the battery going dead, are you sure that the dimmer switch isn't just turned all the way up, this would cause the interior lights to stay on and drain the battery. Depending on how he put the kit in for the deck, he may have had to take part of the dash apart, this would include the dimmer switch and cigarette lighter.

Are you sure the dimmer switch isn't just unplugged? If it is unplugged that might cause your interior light to stay on all the time and would also explain why your gauges aren't lighting up the way they should. If your interior light is on all the time, then your having trouble starting your car because it would be well under the needed 12.6 volts after sitting for any decent amount of time. As for the trunk not opening right maybe just a sticky lock mechanism I don't know..Anyway there's a bunch of theory good luck with the car.

ok i think i know what the problem is with the weird starting. I dont think it is the battery because it is fully charged and working properly. I think it is the starter selenoed (or selenoid i cant remember). But it is just my lights now that are all messed, do you think it could be because it is dusty and sh*t where all the wires are or something? My interior light keeps staying on even when i have the switch to the shut off position. I have the dash all off right now cause i am painting it so i will check if it could just be the connection with the switch or somehting. I also took out my gauge pod and put in blue lights for the gauges but i dont know if they will work better because of the wiring.

hey guess what?!?! i dont know what i did or what happened but my interior light turns off now and my gauge lights work awsome, the only thing that is wrong now is my daytime headlights (the ones that automatically come on when you start your car) dont work i have to turn on my actual headlights. What could be the problem?

any time something "magically" fixes itself it has the ability to unfix itself. i would have it checked out by a professional. first get the radio install checked by someone who does radio install for a living, if that is given a thumbs up go to a mechanic for the lighting concerns. i suggest doing it in this order, because mechanics blame everything on aftermarket units. i do not know how many times my remote start install have been the cause of flat tires and such. if a mechanic cannot find the real problem they just blame it on us guys.

my car works fine now, the problem was that i needed a new battery. Everything works as it is supposed to except for the trunk, and the headlights that come on when i start my car flicker and then shut off, i have to turn them on for them to work.
