Hey, i had a post earlier called "Few problems, need some help" and i had fixed everything in that problem earlier with like the lights and all that kind of stuff. Ever since i got my deck hooked up, my battery has kept being drained. I dont know why. What do you think could be draining the battery? The guy who hooked up the deck said it couldnt be the deck (and he is a certified mechanic) but i dont see how it couldnt be because all this sh*t started happening after the deck was installed. Please give me some suggestions.

if u have an amp it may not be shutting off with the deck, or the radio wiring may be tapped into a bad sorce and turning the radio back on. when u shut off ur car check to see if they turn off..... if not that would be ur problem.

o yeah, your "certified mechanic" is exactly that a mechanic - not an electrician or certified electronics installer. if your problem persists then take it to a stereo shop and see if they'll check it for you.

I have an amp put in, but it is not hooked up to the battery, it is just grounded (to one of the bolts and metal part that is holding in my rear light). Could it be that i am an idiot and grounded my amp without hooking it up to the battery?

nope, no idiocity going on there. hooking your amp up to ground without power will not drain your battery, in fact it will not even draw anything as it has to be a complete circuit before anything will happen. but do check around where u grounded it and see if you've accidently cut any wires or that your added ground doesn't cross across a power contacts.

Use a dmm to do a draw test on the car, and see what kind of draw you come up with. 95 cavi... check the ground wire on the alternator just for fun if it is corroded really bad, the battery won't be getting charged.

on your other post you said you changed your battery and problem was solved? your alternator is probably bad that might be why the battery solved the concern for a day or two until the battery drained again. no alternator means no charging of the battery.

nope the battery was the problem, it has not been chaned in like 7 years. Now everything is running properly
