MDF or Plywood?

3/4 inch plywood is just fine. At that thickness it is a very strong and solid piece of wood.

Yes , it is the brace seperating sections of the box.  If I replace it with mdf   how will this improve the quality?    Is it only because the mdf might be stronger than the plywood? Or is there some kind of sound difference between the two woods?   The 3/4 plywood seems to be alot stronger than the 3/4 mdf. Or am I wrong?   Thanks for your time and help!!12 volt rules

There shouldn't be a quility or sound issues as long as you are using it for just a brace.  The difference is in the desiity of the two materials.  The denser the material the less likely it is to flex.
