Can I make the ports in my box design shorter?   The recomended ports are 4in x 19in , but a 19in long port will not fit into my box design . I have calculated that my new ports can be 14.25in long by reducing them to 3in diameter. Is this correct?  Also my box design would require 2 of these ports, so by doubleing the area of the port could i use one port at 14.25in, i.e. one rectangular port  4in wide x 3.53in deep x 14.25in long.   Will my ideas work?

Yes and No and I can't tell you because 1)not enought info about the speaker's paramenters and 2)I do not know the formulas needed to design ports, don't have the time to learn, and don't have a program to do it for me.

There is much more physics at work with ports and air displacement than simple area and volume.

What you need to do is call the manufacturer and ask their tech support guys. They will be able to give you the specs for using 1, 2, more ports, at whatever diameter or length you ask about.

They will be able to make the box SLAM at a specific frequency, though it won't sound good at other frequencies, or sound nice and natural over a range of frequencies, though it won't be as loud. It all depends on what you want.

Do not guess and hope for the best, unless you have a lot of port materail and time to waste guessing. More than likely, you will not be happy with the results of guessing.
