porting enclosure help

ok, i have 3 alpine type-e 12" subs, in 3 separate 1.25 cube sealed enclosures. Problem is that thay play the high bass notes to much and the lows the barely happen, i want to port my box to get a lower sound but still stay with sound quality. I only have enough room to fit a 2" wide port paralell to the sub. Can i put the ports 90 degrees to the sub? or perhaps on the back of the box behind the subs? if so then i can get any ports. But the main prob is chooseing a frequency to tune to. Thanks Jason

How do you have your X-overs set?

its not a matter or x-overs, it box. But anyways the x-over is as 71hz, and the sub sonic is at 15hz, and the boost is set for 40hz. My amp is the apline mrd-m500, i am an installer at a certified alpine dealer so i know the in's and outs of alpine, just im not a pro at porting, i do know i need to port.
