kinda deals with security......my security......but, who knows what about radar detectors......i just got my first speeding ticket....i was wondering how well they work, and if its worth spendin more money on a nice one as opposed to a cheap one.........just any info helps.......plus i work at bestbuy so i get a handsome discount on most of them

Buy a Valentine One, it's the best one out there.  The only downside is that it costs $400, well worth it if you got a heavy foot.  You also have to buy direct from the company. I've had shi##y Cobra's before and their is no comparison.  Check out their website.

Anything you buy at bestbuy is going to be a POS. There are radar detectors and there are valentine one's. I've had mine since 1996 and its served me well. Even the Valentine 1 is just a tool, drive like a dumbass or find a good cop and you are toast. How did you get your ticket, would a radar detector have prevented it?

yea a detector would have prevented it......it was like 1045 at night so i couldnt see who was who and i was doin 92 on the freeway when the cop pulled me over he said hed been followin me since a few offramps back......i was just drivin crazy...... like i always do, if i woulda had one i woulda known he was behind me the whole time

A radar detector is not a police car detector. If he was following you, he was PACING you. Unless he had the gun on, you wouldn't have picked anything up. Most cops do not run around with their radar guns on. Radar detectors are useless in situations such as yours. Maybe next time you decide to push it, you look around and make sure you have your bases covered.
