I work for a Fire Dept, and we are training on vehicle extrication. One of the cars we get to cut apart has an old sony deck in it that I want to take out. I know alpines have the front locks that don't really need specific tools. I was wondering if sony had anything similar. I don't know the model number, only that it is AM/FM/CD. If I remember right, the car is an older (around 1990-1995) Nissan Sentra, just in case it is needed. I haven't worked with sony yet, so any info would help. Thanks.

y not just destroy the dash to get it out? if not i believe most sonys have finger tabs on the side from my experiences

Yea, some of the older Sony's had small metal tabs that you could squeeze with your fingers.

Also keep in mind though, that some Sony's with a detachable face had a different setup. If you remove the face, there are small screws on each side of the headunit where the faceplate attached (1 screw per side). These are sliders, do not remove them. Take a small pointed object and move each one either up or down to release the headunit. It might be easier to imagine a T cut sideways into a piece of metal. When the headunit is installed, those slider screws enter the base of the "T", then are spring loaded to go either up or down. This is what locks some of their headunits into place.

Some of the Sony decks have a tab on the top left ( or right can't remember ) that you need to push down in order for the top to release. The side also has a tab that you need to release.

95 sentra ...it should be isomounted ... the bezel around the radio comes off ... in the center top of that bezel is a hazard switch remove that and there is a phillips screw behind it. pull the bezel off and remove 4 screws that hold radio in and your done
