I want to install 2 alternators into my car to help with my stereo and its power problems.

I have a 1993 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L 8v that comes stock with a 90amp alternator.  The air conditioning is broken so I wanted to add another alternator in its place.

I have a 190amp alternator from a F250.

Im not sure how I should wire the alternators.  Do I wire them together or separately just as though there were only one alternator?

Does it make any difference that I have 2 different size alternators?

Do I need some sort of voltage regulator?

I really don’t have a clue if I need to do anything special, please let me know.

Thanks

wouldnt work.

just putting the 190amp will work by itself...and upgraded battery.

thats if you can hook it up.  Your goin to put a truck alt into a car, that in itself will be a challenge.

What you could do is hit ebay and pick up a 200 amp alt pretty cheap.. then sell those two to repay the new alt.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

Well i havent actually got the F250 alternator yet but it was what i was able to get it the cheapest.  Im not sure how it matters whether the alternator was out of a truck or not.  I realize it would be harder to mount but i can figure that out.  Though following what you said i have decided to just get a bigger alternator from a car which will fit much easier.  I have been looking at some smaller alternators for cars and will probably use one around 120-140amps.

Why cant you run 2 different alternators with one battery? Could i run 2 if i had 2 batteries hooked up with eachother?

Ok, i talked to some people and figured out why 2 alternators on one battery will not work.

What was confusing was the guy also said that you cant get alternators over 120amp that dont need like dual drive belts and crazy sh*t like that.

Whats with this?

Canada..ok..you will be able to get a alt off ebay alot easier.  Just dont go thru canadian mail..you'll get charged tons of fees for handling and what not.
