I just installed a new Clifford rsx 3.5 . There is a white wire with a blue stripe that I cannot figure out what to connect it to . The installation manual list the wire as the remote start(-) activation input wire , and shows it to be connected to a switch . No switch came with the alarm for it . It sais 2 pulses must be sent through this wire to remote start the vehicle , but using a switch everytime you want to remote start it , would defeat the purpose . How can you remote start the car when you have to push a switch 2 times connected to this wire ? I just don't understand it . Please let me know what to connect this wire to . Also the car is a 1998 Lexus gs400 , and i was wondering if I need to use a 555x to bypass the key transponder , or if it even has the chip in the key .Thanks ,Tuttz

Usually that wire is used if you wanted to add the remote start feature to your factory remote. ie You would hit lock on your factory remote twice and that would trigger the remote start and start the car. Not familiar with Clifford but I would think that is an optional wire you can cut off and tape up..Good luck,
Mike

now ya know is correct. is it a tap in car starter ie. it uses the factory keyless remotes? if so and the car has negative locks put it on the lock wire. you can also use it to trigger the remote start from an external device such as GUIDEPIONT gps tracking.

the wire is for a pushbutton switch so that the user can push the button while in the vehicle is running with the key, so the takeover mode turns on so the key can be taken out of ignition and th car will stay running. the feature is also called short stop, stop and go whatever. The switch will not interfere with normal starting with the transmitter but if feature is not wanted just tape wire and dont use.by the way they never come with the switch you have to supply your own.
