Would it be ok to wire in a second 1 farad cap, along with the existing 1 f. cap to each of my amplifiers, which is a American Bass sq 580 driving an audiobahn 1200q dvc-(wired for 2ohm operation) in a stillwater designs tube, and  a Power Acoustics LT960 (960w. max )4x100 rms, driving JBL 6x9 x2 (rear) and Altec component system (front) The LT is replacing a Urban 400w. unit (50x4) due to occasionsional clipping problems during peaks. I was using the first cap wired to both amps. Should I keep this current setup when I install the LT or add the second cap.

I had problems such as dimming lights on heavy bass peaks, but after installing the first cap the system ran fine, readout on the cap fluctuated between 13.8-12.2volts with no dimming a/c on. Can I add the second cap to the LT being it is twice the power of the urban, I do play the system loud, oh the head unit is a pioneer deph77....... 94" bonneville

the second cap is going to put the strain on your elect. system that will make the lights dimm n sh*t again, go with what maxst said and sell the caps and buy the alt.

na the alt will just charge the battery better and better keep up with all the elec. systems needs. nothing should have to be changed because it will keep at a 12v basic.

Just wnated to put my two cents in. If you install a 200 amp alternor you will have to upgrade the power wire that goes from the alternator to the battery to at least a 4gauge preferably a 0gauge. most alternator shops and even a lot that sell them on ebay will sell you a length of wire as well. Or you can go to most auto Stereo stores they would prob. be cheaper for the wire.

yeah sry i forgot about that, my truck is so old it had some 14ga wire running from the alt to the battery, and i still dont know what size the alt is.  also dont forget that your ground on your battery should be equivelent or larget than the total wire size comming off the battery, many people dont think about this.
