I am putting together a system in my truck and plan to use a single 12" sub - any recommendations on a moderately priced sub??

Yes definitely, it should be the one that fits your needs, not someone elses. What truck, box, amp, type of music do you play, do want loud or good sound? I have my favorites for my appliciation but there is no one size fit's all for all vehicles, if that was the case then we would all have adire audio's shiva. No offence intended to Maxst, just an opinion.

Got your point Rob - I am planning a sealed enclosure in a Ram 1500, I listen to all kinds of music, and want good sound over loudness.

Have a look at a Lightning Audio strike series sub, it is available in two models, the s3.12.4 or s3.12.vc2, the latter being their higher end strike series sub. Both drivers are expressly disigned for a small sealed box, have a look at the Oct/Nov 2003 mobile entertainment magazine for a write up on the Q-Logic sub box, they just happened to load it with the 10" version of the Strike VC2 vc2 subwoofer. If you really want to go for broke and have the mounting depth and budget available to power the sub properly, the Eclipse aluminum driver is a great choice for all types of music, will play with authority if needed and has a maximum airspace for a 12 of 1.12 cu. ft. sealed box only. Here are three really good options for you to consider.
