Sorry for the lack of response, had problems and haven't been able to get back to it yet. Truck would attempt start ,but no go. I believe its a bypass problem. But the other strange thing was the led never lit when trying to teach and the parking lights never flashed either. Going to go through it all agin this evening.

Thanks for all the advice.

Success!! Thanks for all the help! Only one little quirk. When remote starting and then getting in and driving, security light stays lit. But not when starting with key. Any ideas?

Thanks,

You have to either relearn the bypass module or isolate your starter wire from the RS unit to the vehicle as this would cause feedback into the ignition system.

Thanks Jeff. How do you go about isolating starter wire?

Use a SPDT relay and wire like this:

  • 85 to starter wire from RS
  • 86 GROUND OUT WHEN RUNNING WIRE from RS
  • 87 Vehicle start wire
  • 30 12 volt CONSTANT fused at 30 amps
  • 87a not used

This has worked for me in the past, but just make sure about your resistance first on the module.Another thing to look for is that your GROUND OUT WHEN RUNNING wire is infact strong enough a signal to engage the module. Use a DMM to test for absolute ground on the chassis and on the module.

When does the light turn on? If it turns on after you put the key in and hit the brake, then you need to turn the key to start before hitting the brake. You will want to have an anti-grind feature installed though.
This is just a thought, try Jeff's idea first.
Jeff, i've never tried that. What were the circumstances that you needed to do that. I may want to try that sometime. The only 2 cases i've ever had that problem was on a grand am and a malibu and turning the key to start solved the problem, but that doesnt sound related to your solution.
