how many think that running an 18" woofer that has an rms reccomendation of 300w will be blown by powering it at 1500w?

Feed it distortion, it will blow

Feed it too much power for prolonged periods so that the voice coil cannot dissipate the heat, it will blow

What do you think?

I know a guy that supplies 9 kilowatts to subs that are rated at 1,600 watts rms.  Richard Clark of Car Sound magazine put 32 kilowatts to the same subwoofer and it didn't blow.  But what both of them did was apply that power for a VERY short time.  If you are smart about it, you shouldn't have a problem.

Turn it up , keep it clean, watch it smoke, make sure your friends and camera are there, it is damn funny, stinks up the car though.

put it in a box that is way overly ported, and feed it the juice, hehehe.

i put an alpine mrd-m1000 up to my factory 6x9's in my pathfinder, lol they lasted 12.5 seconds before the cone turned inside out and and blew straight out.  Stunk like heck for a hour or so.    Smells like when you turn your electric heater on for the first time in a few months.
