OK now I have another question. I want automatic headlights on my car (2003 Mitsubishi Galant). I know how to wire everything with a relay and a photo cell(Only passes current when light hits it). But the problem is I need a timer. I don't know how to make it stay on for 30-45 seconds or so(So my lights don't turn on and off when I drive under streetlights). I have an idea that I'll need a capacitor, but I don't know exactly how to do it. Can anyone help?

what i would do is use an RC circuit to keep a transistor going, the low current requirement of the transistor will not drain the cap very fast and will give you exponential decay, use the transistor to keep the relay on... what kind of photcell are you using, usually CdS cells are used, but watch them because they will not totally stop current on vary resistance...

Hi, ok, there's a much easier solution to this. A few of the larger security companies(Audiovox, DEI) that make a timer module that do just that. And they're relatively cheap(about $20 US). And the timing is adjustable through a pot.
