problems with cd player cutting out

my friend has a 99 sunfire. he installed a sony xplode, with a 200watt audiobauhn, with 2 10" rockfard fosgate punch z's. the problem is when he turns it up fairly loud his cdplayer cuts out. Is there something hooked up wrong? How would i go about fixing this problem? Thanks in advance.

Friends don't let friends buy Sony. The problem that your friend is experiencing is not just a Sony issue, but happens to many brands. Every vehicle is different and has a different resonant frequency. When you put subs into a vehicle, they create shock waves, if these shock waves are equal (generally speaking) to the resonant frequency of the vehicle, they act together in unison to create an even bigger shock wave (and louder bass at said frequency). Now if the laser sled in your favorite cd player say it 35hz and your subs play at 35hz with authority, the shock wave from the sub will physically cause the cd player to skip. Another issue with cd laser sleds is the voltage regulator circuit. If the circuit cannot maintain a stable current / voltage, it will have adverse effects on performance (usually when a big sub is hammering away). In another case the cd player is just a pile of crap (not saying yours is). Another culprit is improper installation where the cd player is just rattling away in the dash, another culprit can be too good of a mount (now the player resonates with the car). Many possible scenarios for you. I still would recommend a new cd player, like an Eclipse, especially if you want to improve your sound quality - there is nothing that sounds as nice as an Eclipse.Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
