ok guys....i'm sure you get a million of these questions and i apologize to make it a million and one....but i ready to tackle of friend of mines 2001 VW golf and wanted me to install neon tubes in it along with the neon pedals.....now before i tackle this i noticed a few things and had a few questions as well.....first off the neon tube (5") comes with a lil box with it, filled with resistors, and transformers.....cause i just cut that off and use the wires straight from the tube itself?...i tried to do that in a previous install and it didn't work for some reason.....also my second question is......the neon tubes that i'll be hooking up have 2 wires coming out of it....assuming it's the neg, and pos......can i just ground the neg and just run that pos wire from each tube to one spot of a switch and make it work like that?.....any help is appreicated....thanks

#1 you need the little box filled with resisters / transformers etc.  , this is what regulated and steps up the voltage to drive the neons, some neons have it built into the tube, others have it in a little box, others have in in a cig lighter adaptor.

#2 ground the negative, a clean ground spot, no painted surface. Positive to a switch for sure, make sure the switch is rated about 3amps. Fuse the switch.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

no u cannot cut out the lil box. and any lights should always be switched  (use a toggle switch) for electrical safety and in case it needs to be shut off for other reasons (leagal liability) state and local regulations!

no you cannot eliminate the lil box.

also ALL lights need to be switched (use a toggle switch) for legal and safety reasons.
