I have a 2001 Ford Escape with a Kenwood KDC-519 Headunit.  I also have a 2400 watt amp pushing a 15' DVC.  I am wanting to install a DVD player and screen for my family for Christmas. From what i understand i can use my PS2 as the DVD and game system. Is it cheaper to buy a dvd player and not worry bout taking it in and out of the car?  And what all do i need to hook up the screen to the PS2?  I have a couple mounting options that im still not sure about so ill figure that out later.  I know that my HU has an input and output so i know that i just hook the PS2 RCA audio to the HU and then the PS2 RCA video to the screen. Is it that simple? What screens to you recommend?  I have found a 12.1' lcd screen on eBay but i dont think it comes with any wires.   Is that normal? Is it hard or expensive to get those wires?  And i saw one auction that stated that the screen may need a card, are all of them that way?  ANY HELP IS WELCOME..               P.S.   Im on a Very low budget

You need to make sure that you get a screen that is meant for the car, don't get any raw or laptop/computer lcd screens (they will cost you more to get them to work then it would to get the one you need, for example "may need a card", stay away from these). As far as using the ps2 for dvd and game, I would recommend buying an extra set of cables to wire into the car. Of course you will need to get a power inverter.

OK, sadly im just now getting to my Car video project.   Now i have a screen molded into the dash, a PS2 , and the Kenwood HU i spoke of in the earlier post. I want to make sure i know how this is gonna work.

I place the PS2 somewhere so that it is safe and kept cool.  i run the RCA audio cable directly to the HU input RCA cables. and i run the Video RCA cable directly to the screen.  Then i purchase an extra power cable for the PS2 so i can wire it to a power source in the car and use the other for the house.  I then wire the screen power to a power source.  Where is the best place to hook up the power to both?  I have purchased a glassed screen and dash from another escape owner. This screen will be taking up the space when the HU is supposed to be so i also bought a custom glassed lower dash. With this new lower dash i will be covering an extra Cig lighter. Can i hook BOTH the screen and PS2 power cords to this cig lighter? Will that use so much power that it isnt enough to power both correctly. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND????? HELP ME OUT PLEASE!!!!
