I am gonna be hooking up a JBL BP600.1 amp with one 10" RF HE2 sub.  Will this be drawing too much current from my battery and will this draw be too much for the alternator to handle?

The amp will be drawing current from the alternator. The battery is a voltage source and should adequately supply the amp. Whether or not your alternator can handle the current draw is a different story.  This all depends on the make and model of your vehicle.  The JBL BP600.1 will draw somewhere around 45-50 amps, and you will still need enough amperage for your vehicles electrical system.  Contact your vehicle's maufacturer and find out the rating of your alternator so that we can tell you if your vehicle can adequately power the amp.

I own a 2003 Cavalier.  i have the stock alternator on it right now.  I was wondering if it would be best to wait until I can get my hands on a higher output alternator.
