Hey guys, quick question to verify the work was done correctly and im not looking at a poetential problem. Diagrams i pulled up were a mess and after much digging I believe i got it hooked up correctly.

99 Dodge Ram w/o factory keyless entry

Wires comming off of the lock/unlock switch were ORANGE / purple and pink/purple. During lock 1 was 12+ during unlock the other was +12 but tieing my relays into these did nothing.

After further investigation i found a pink/green and ORANGE / green wire in the same kickpanel harness that measured the same readings above, but when 12+volts was applied to each wire seprately, the doors would lock and unlock properly.

I wired and connected my relays:

                      To door lock wire   |

                                 12+V    |                 | to alarm - output

                                         12+V     |

The door locks work. Just, when you use them, there seems to be a decent ammount of draw on the battery for the second or two that is pulses( and it does not do this when using the factory unlock switch~ Only with the remote keyless)

Both relays are fused~ So if this is incorrect, the worst it MAY do is blow a fuse.

Just trying to verify it was done correctly. If it was not, what should i have done differently so i can get it straight tomorrow.

Thanks a million guys!

Or should i have cut the lock/unlock wires... hooked 87 to the lock/unlock wire on the switch side and 30 to the other end?

Simply dont want to have hooked it up incorrectly, and there be a problem.

I'm pretty sure the system is 5 wire reverse polarity, I had a similar problem w/ a 2000 Dodge Ram, the relays were getting really hot. If  you figure out how to get them to work, post it in here. Thanks!

Try this 85 (-) d/l input from alarm, 86 and 30 to 10 a fused 12 v constant, 87 to switch side and 87a to factory relay side. Let me know how you make out.

Try the ORANGE / purple and pink/purple wires at the switch and not at the kick panel. The only thing you have to wire into the door is the unlock and lock wires from the alarm or KE/remote starter. This way you know you have the proper wires and that you know it will work without blowing something. I did this with a Jeep ( like I said before ) and now I remember why it was heating up so bad. The relays got hot because I metered two other wires ( other than what the wiring diagram told me because I couldn't find those wires that the wiring diagram mentioned anywhere ) and I tested these other two wires and they tested just like the lock and unlock wires were supposed to. I hooked them up and tried out the lock and unlock and nothing, except that the relays got stinking HOT 99 Ram door locks -- posted image..  I disconnected the relay and went into the doors to find the proper wires and put my relays in between the switch ( about 3 inches away ) and the thing worked like a charm.

I know there should be a locking module through DEI I know on 96-2000? Jeeps it's something like a 455J Module that keeps from having to use relays in each of the doors.....hope this helps
