Since nobody has said anything...,i used to be the bigest Blau fanatic,a while back when yes the Blaupunkt name was a simbol of german engineering.Yes the are owned by Bosch and no longer made in Germany,Malaysia and China seem to have got the contracts to make them for obvious reasons $$$ cheap labour. The model you ask about i don't know anything,do you really want MP3 ?,i don't care for it.If i were to buy anything Blaupunkt i would consider their older models (if you can find them) refered as the 7 Series, they had the variocolor, key card for security and yes they were Made in Germany .
I hope i didn't confuse you and good luck/

Blaupunkt = crap.  In my opinion, anyways. I've installed several Blaupunkt head units in my time, and on 4 of them, the faceplate just stopped working.  The cd player still worked but you had to guess what track you were on.  In my opinion, they aren't worth the trouble.  However, if you are looking for a good MP3 deck, I would recommend the Panasonic CQ-DFX983U.  I have it in my car, and there is nothing better in my opinion.  It runs about 250, but worth every penny.

  • 5 volt preamp outputs(front, rear, subs)
  • Cool as hell faceplate(animated, screensaver type stuff, really neat.)
  • Plays MP3s AND WMA files.

It's worth it.  Crutchfield wants 350 for it, but if you go to ikesound.com you can get it for 250.  Excellent deck, I wouldn't go with anything else right now.  Hope this helped point you in the proper direction.

Blaupunkt is the oldest manufacturer of car radios in the industry today, they build some absolutely mind blowing car audio products for the people that take the time to look at it and understand it's uses. Yes they had some really crappy cd players (mainly built by Sony - no surprise to those of us that know better), but they also had some really good units as well. My failure rate on Blaupunkt was way lower than that of Pioneer. I did not care for some of the asthetics, but they look at home in any European vehicle and quite good in a lot of others, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
