can anyone tell me if three 4 ohm woofers wired in series so that a 2 ohm staple amp can handle it

Sure, if you are wiring in series your amp will see a 12 ohm load assuming the subs are single voice coil subs.  If you wire them in parallel, your amp will not be able to handle it because it will be seeing a 1.33 ohm load.
