I am inquiring about information on installing an aftermarket head unit in a Mercedees C280 '99 with the Bose system. Any and all information would be much appreciated. I am MECP certified and have a very good electrical sense, but I have never worked on this specific vehicle before. Thanks for the help.

Run and hide. Just kidding, although before you do anything go to the rear deck and find a speaker, disconnect it and check what the impedance is. If it 2 ohms then tell the customer he may have to replace everything. You are going to have to rewire the speakers. Also here is a link to the stereo wiring, don't know how accurate but should work LINK

Bose in the 99 isn't a problem. The audio system is has fiber optics, but the link from the amp to the head didn't go fiber until 2001. We have integrated heads and aftermarket amps without a problem in the 99-03 Mercedes. Only thing that may crop up is that the volumn may rise and fall without you touching the radio controls. This is caused by a sophisticated noise cancellation/auto tone control/VSS system (although I am not sure that started to be a problem until 2000). If it is, you will have to clip a wire on the microphone in the upper console (roof). Typically it is brown. There may be one or two microphones. Clip the brown wire.
Best Regards,
Rich
