Ok, I am installing a remote starter alarm in my Z. I gotten several wiring diagrams from different sources, and they all list a Blk/Red wire at the ign harness, where there is not a wire in that color in my car. I need help figuring out this conundrum...and hope that someone else has run into this problem before...that can help me out. I have starter grinding when I try it out the way I have it hooked up, but I cannot find the Blk/Red wire.....Please help me figure this out.
Wires and actions that I am looking for: (from alarm manual)
Start - Locate the wire where (+)12V shows always on the multimeter only when the Starter Motor is running.
IG 1 - It is a power supply wire required for engine starting. Locate the wire where (+)12V shows on the multimeter when the Starter Motor is running or when the Ignition Key is turned to the second turn position in the Key Cylinder.
IG 2 - It is a power supply wire for the operation of the heater or air conditioning compressor etc. Locate the wire where (+) 12V shows on the multimeter when the Ignition Key is turned to the second turn position in the Key Cylinder and 2~ 3V shows on the multimeter when the Starter Motor is running.(Connect to the Fuse for Blower Motor in the Fuse Box.)
The Wires that I have at the ign harness....pictures linked below:
(tested with test lamp)
Blk/Green - +12V when starter motor is running.
Blk/White - +12V Key to 2nd position and also when starter motor is running.
Blk / YELLOW - +12V when starter motor is running.
Blue - 12V when Key to 1st and 2nd positions...cuts off power when starter motor is running, and +12V back on when car is running.
WHITE/ Red - +12V constant
Can anyone tell me where the BLACK/ Red wire is that every diagram tells me is there. Pictures can be found at [ http://www.geocities.com/sheerdark300z/index.htm ]
I think you have to copy/paste that one...since geocities does not allow direct linking. My host is down...so my own pages are down for about another week...so I had to use geocities. Thanks goes out to everyone for helping!!

not trying to sound rude...or whatever....but did you happen to even read my post?  I cannot find the blk/red wire that your wiring diagram lists...as well as all the other ones that I have....resulting in starter grinding.  Do you have any other ideas as to what can cause this phenomenon?  I know that there are 3 wires...and only 2 connectors on the alarm system.

I did read the post, but I figured that you have the answer right in front of your face and I wanted to let you see the other wires that you may have missed. Here we go :

Blk/Green - +12V when starter motor is running. Starter wire

Blk/White - +12V Key to 2nd position and also when starter motor is running. IGNITION # 1
Blk / YELLOW - +12V when starter motor is running.Starter wire
Blue - 12V when Key to 1st and 2nd positions...cuts off power when starter motor is running, and +12V back on when car is running. ACCESSORY
WHITE/ Red - +12V constant Self explanatory

The starter grinding is because you do not have the tach signal correct on the programming on the wire is incorrect.

humm, well, start of by DOUBLE CHECKING all the accessory and starter wires to make sure one of the accessory wires aren't hooked up to the starter (you probably checked more than 1000 times). If one was to be hooked up in that manner, the starter would crank constantly (costing you probably more than having it installed by a shop).  Next, check to see that your tachometer *yellow/red* wire is hook up! This tells the alarm module "hey im cool stop cranking" or "keep the car runing, im on successfuly". Next, check the actual settings on the alarm. Some have a programable longer crank time for different applications, although I think the problem shouldn't be here, but it wont hurt to check.  Now about that WHITE/ red 12 volt constant, you simply need 12 + volts at all times, run it to the battery or any ignition power supply that reads 12volts at all times!  Hope this sort of helped you.

ride fast, play it loud!

There is no black /red on a 300 ive never seen one it is BLACK/ green no black./red.  Your car has a WHITE/ red that's constant a BLACK / YELLOW that is a starter wire you have a blue that is accesory now you only have 2 left whichever one dont show voltage while running is your second starter i believe that is the BLACK/ white but if not there is only one more wire it can be the BLACK/ green. so you see it cant be hard to figure out wich one is what (it should be verry easy with a dmm)

(forget about the BLACK/ red there is none at least not at the ignition switch). another lesson is not to always trust wiring diagrams they are not always right they should always be double checked with a dmm.

THERE IS A BLACK/ RED BUT IT IS NOT AT THE IGNITION SWITCH IT IS AT THE HARNESS That goes to the ignition but it changes to another color from there this harness is under the driver side dash you have to take the air ducts out and it is attache dto a piece of sheet metal with holes in it .but this dont matter because you can test at the ignition im just telling you this so you know that the black / red you dont have to find.
