Just installed a Directstart CS423 this weekend and have a few questions. Everything pretty much works except the heater or ac, they don't come on when remote started. The gauges, lights and stereo work so do I need to use the other accesory wire blue/lt green instead of the RED / black I'm currently using. Or do I need to use both, and how do I go about that? Do I tie them both into the accesory wire on the unit or use some sort of relay? Also do I need to use both ignition wires, currently using RED / lt green only. The remote start and door locks work out to 250 yards but it won't turn off by remote further than 25 yards or so. What is the cause of this? Thanks for any help you can provide.

What type of vehicle are we working on here would be most helpful...

Only (about) 750Feet distance for the remote start/door locks? and about 75 feet for the remote to shut the vehicle off?? i would take a look at antenna mounting... doesent explain why it will start it from a distance... but not shut it off... then again... could be something weird with how/where the antenna is mounted not allowing it to recieve the certain signal needed to kill it (???)

What kind of car + Where is antenna mounted?

As my topic says it is a 2003 Ford F250 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, with an automatic transmission. The antenna is mounted upside down directly above the rear view mirror. That distance was taken under a car port with a metal roof so it may actually be better than that. The distance doesn't really matter since the factory keyless only worked about 6 feet behind the truck so this is a dramatic improvement. Just questioning if it is normal to not reach the same distances starting and stopping the remote start.

Bah... excuese that... had a few moron sandwiches today = ) actully suffering from a cold and cant read a sentence without sneezing!

Blue and LT Green is your accessory wire... this powers the heat/AC

Not firmiliar with the output on your remote start... but here goes

Start = Green

IGN1= Red / LT Green

IGN2= Grey / YELLOW

IGN3= RED / Black

ACC= Blue/ LT Green

Your starter LIKELY has: Start/IGN1+2/ACC outputs on the main harness. Instead of hooking up the Blu/LT Grn, you hooked the RED / black up on the accessory wire, which probably did nothing major... but some vehicles require 12V during crank (ignition wire) as well as while its running, instead, while the vehicle is cranking, the RED / black wire goes dead until it starts.

Solution: Wire up a relay=

30 = to RED / Black wire in ignition harness

86 = to ING2 wire on remote start

87 = fused, to battery

85 = ground

This setup will take 12V+ from the ING2 wire(only active during remote start/key in ignition running, throw the relay and allow 12V from the battery to juice your ING3 (red black) wire.... then just tie the blue/L Green wire into the remote start where its supposed to be

Sorry if thats in any way confusing... spend my of my time (when i explain things) to people who generally DONT understand anything about electronics

On an 03 F250 you need to power up the following:

WHITE/ Yellow = Ignition (Or possibly RED / green)

RED / Black = Accessory

Gray / YELLOW = Accessory

The Blue/Green is not needed for remote start.

Brake Light:	Green	At Brake Switch
Tach Signal:	Blue/Green or GREEN / WHITE	At Coil Pack On Engine
Parking Lights:	Brown (+)	At Headlight Switch
Headlights:	RED / Yellow	At Headlight Switch
OEM Alarm Disarm:	GREEN/ Purple	Drivers Kick Panel
OEM Alarm Arm:	No Color Available	Please call with information
Diesel Glow Plug:	No Color Available	Please call with information
Clutch Bypass Wire:	No Color Available	Please call with information
