I really hope someone can help me with this problem. I am trying to install a Prestige APS-785 into a 98 Durango SLT w/ factory keyless entry. I habe installed a quite a few alarms before but this one has me pulling out my hair. I have hooked up all the wiring as the manual says to. However when I plus in everything then the 16 pin harness, The alarm is triggered and will not quit unless you unplug it. I used the remote and the valet switch. Also when plugging in the door lock connect to the brain, the relay(?)  inside just keeps clicking on and off and the locks go bezerk for 2 seconds. The drivers lock stays unlocked while all of the others stay unlocked. What am I doing wrong here?  Any help is greatly appreciated. Maybe my fiance will still want to marry me... :)

I would like to add to this. My question is When the wiring states for example: Input grey/black (-) Shutdown From hood switch. Does this mean at rest or when tiggered the negative or positive is the one you need to tap into? My brain is hurting help please.

an input wire is a wire that will receive the - or + trigger....a hood shut down means that a pin switch will ground when the hood is opened and will send the ground through the wire to the remote start and will shut it down....or will prevent it from engaging so if you are working under the hood, you wont chop your arms off in the fan....
Good Luck

Oh please someone help me again. I have hooked this thing up and tried all different ways for the door locks that I have read possible. But the relays don't do a thing. The factory keyless remote still works no matter what I do. I am trying do stay with the 2 step and after reading posts, Came up with the positive system. Also, When attempting to remote start the only thing is the brain box clicks about 8 times. Please someone help.

i believe your truck had multi plex door locks, and you will need to place resistors inline.  Not shure tho...and to lazy to check it out, sorry.

to make sure you're not doing something wrong, try just hooking them into the unlock and lock wires for this car and see if it will at least unlock and lock all doors. It's a 98 so i think resistors are unneccessary. Should be + system. Before trying the 2 step unlock first try the just all unlock/lock

Not to be a pest, But I finally got most of the alarm working. My next question are very concerning. When hooking up the power locks I tried just the lock and unlock all the way around. ( without 2 stage) And I couldn't get them to work. So I then removed the door panel to get to the switches thinking maybe I was on the wrong side of the factory relays. Still nothing at all. Just the arm and disarm beep and honk. Another one I hooked up the parking lights per the instructions but they do not work either. Should I just add a relay for this to work?  Any help please.

Did you add relays to convert the (-) signa to a (+) ? The Dodge requires a strong (+) signal to engage the locking motors. The parking light wire is located at a black plug in the drivers kick panel, it is BLACK / YELLOW in color.
