I was just wondering... when working with car wires and making a connection... When is it best to use a connector, and when is it best to use soldering?  Are there any special cases where you should use one or the other?  Thanks.

Well... im a solder type guy... when should you solder? always. If and when you get good at it, soldering is about the same speed, less costly, more effective.

Using crimp caps butt connectors and twist/tape? you should use soldering... always... heh j/k... use soldering whenever resistance is key.... wiring up a relay to bypass a passlock2? yep... gotta be within 1% of the value you find.... so if you NEED 1kohms resistance for the vehicle to start.... you have 10ohms to play with.... a bad connection can suck up 10ohms like nothing... soldering correctly you will loose zero ohms, making the resistance the same ALL THE TIME, not just when its warm out and the resistor/wire feel like working

All the time..Crimp caps, and T-Taps are just so unreliable. Make sure you get a good solder connection, and tape it up.

I agree, I always use solder and heat shrink tubing.
