The factory navigation systems only work in the Denali's or Escalades. It won't work in any other fullsize GM truck.

Yeah.. if want factory nav unit then need to buy caddy or denali.  The dealer can't even install a nav unit in a current 04 denali thats sitting on lot and doesn't have nav unit in it.  They have to be order in the vehicle for some reason.  Guess there is alot of wiring difference between the two.

Well...  did a little research just here in the forum.. and seems there is one guy in forum that has already put a nav unit in a gm truck.  Said all he had to do is install the factory gps antenna and then have the dealer reprogram it for the vin number...  don't know if it will work with 04 vehicles but might try emailing this guy and talking to him.  probably has more info then most do.  here is a link to the forum messages https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=21862&PN=4

Hope this helps...

The factory Nav radio requires an amplifier that works on the data bus system and this is only available in the 04 Denali's and Escalades.

If it can be installed in your particular vehicle, the GM dealer because they have to program the head/nav unit for your vehicle and also program your vehicle (BCM) for the unit. You will have to check with your GM dealer to see if it is possible.
Best Regards,
Rich
