I installed a remote start in my wifes Accord. I hooked both 12 volt (fused 30 amp) wires for the Crimestopper RS999 FM to the white factory 12 volt constant power wire in the dash. I used Two seperate connections about 4 or 5 inches apart. Is this ok? It seems to work fine. But looking back I think I should have ran the wires to the battery? Is this unsafe or likely to cause problems? Thanks

i would run the wires to the batt only cause if you get a big draw it can melt the wire and that wont be good

The wire needs to be wired directly to the battery, with the appropiate guage wire.
Erractic operations will be noted, if the unit is set to start via smart tachless mode.
As the voltage rise from the alternator will not be consistantly measured and recieved by the RS999 unit.
You are also over loading the wiring harness, which is a fire hazard.

RUNNING THE POWER WIRE TO THE IGNITION HARNESS IS FINE. All the remote start principally does is duplicate the function of the ignition harness; the amount of current drawn by the brain itself is miniscule in comparison, and won't make a difference on the heavy gauge wires in the Honda. The only time I've ever run power wire to the battery is on Ford Escapes and Chrysler minivans, which don't have a heavy 12v constant in the ignition harness.
Don't lose sleep over your install.
