I have a Kenwood KDC 519 and 716 and both have the motorized faceplate and both all of a sudden stop working, there is power to them but they open up and stay in the down position and don't light up, the 716 was bought first and when i started having this problem i went and bought the 519, I tried hitting the reset button on them but that don't do anything. Can anyone help me out?

Bet it`s the ribbon wire from the deck to the face. Common problem with kenwood flip face receivers. Go to pacparts.com and order a new one. Not too expensive and they are fast. Not too hard to install either. Good luck

Yes, it sounds like the ribbon cable is shot.  You'll have to pull the face apart, and dissassemble the deck.  Time consumming but easy.  You'll have to solder on the ribbon on the face side.
